After the XM-X3 Crossbone Gundam X-3 was destroyed in first conflict with the Jupiter Empire, the XM-X1 Crossbone Gundam X-1 was subsequently modified into the X-1 "Skull Heart" as it now featured a skull & crossbones on its chest much like the X-3.
In Crossbone Gundam X-1 Skull Heart "Full Cloth", it's features an armored version of the A.B.C. Cloak (Anti-Beam Coating) and a pair of skull-shaped I-Field generators mounted on the shoulders.
The X-1 "Skull Heart" is also nicknamed the Crossbone Gundam XM-X4.

หลังจากที่เครื่อง XM-X3 Crossbone Gundam X-3 ถูกทำลายในสงครามความขัดแย้งกับจักรวรรดิดาวพฤหัส เครื่อง XM-X1 Crossbone Gundam X-1 ที่มีอยู่เดิมจึงได้ถูกปรับแต่งใหม่เป็น X-1 "Skull Heart" โดยมีเครื่องหมายหัวกระโหลกบนหน้าอกเช่นเดียวกับเครื่อง X-3
ในขณะที่เครื่อง X-1 Skull Heart อยู่ในสภาพ "Full Cloth" มันได้ถูกติดตั้งเกราะที่มีคุณสมบัติเช่นเดียวกับผ้าคลุม A.B.C. (Anti-Beam Coating) พร้อมทั้งเครื่องกำเนิด I-Field รูปหัวกระโหลกที่ไหล่ทั้งสองข้าง
บางครั้งเครื่อง X-1 "Skull Heart" ก็ถูกเรียกเล่นๆว่าเป็นเครื่อง Crossbone Gundam XM-X4
