| The RX-78GP00 Gundam GP00 "Blossom" is a test unit developed by Anaheim Electronics at the lunar city of Von Braun as part of the Gundam Development Project. This model is designed to contain all the special features and concepts of the GP series. Major problem in GP00 is unbalanced design. The experimental long-range beam rifle used by the GP00 doesn't have an E-Cap system(energy capacitor system - Renewable Energy Sources which makes it possible to create compact beam weapons with greatly reduced power and energy requirements.), and requires a long recharging period after firing. The MPIWS (Minovsky Particle Interference Wave Searcher) device, which resembles a radome, is a large high-performance sensor powerful enough to detect wreckage on the lunar surface from a high altitude, but its reliability is low and it frequently malfunctions. During a test run, The GP00 encountered Zeon forces composed of YMS-16M Xamel mobile suits and was forced into battle. While battling Zeon forces, the balance of the machine was lost. The GP00 "Blossom" losing control and destroyed in combat. Analysis of the valuable combat data recovered from the GP00 indicates that the attempt to make it so multipurpose put too much strain on its pilot, and the GP01-GP04 are thus designed to perform a single function. |
